Up&Up.. Thumbs down!

If any of you know me, I'm cheap. Yup, I have very little brand loyalty. There are some things I will flat out refuse to buy generics of them, such as toilet paper, much to the dismay of my husband. He just doesn't understand that if it is thinner, I'll just use more, therefore it isn't cheaper in the long run. Having a baby is expensive. I'll be the first to admit it. But you know? It doesn't have to be that bad. While pregnant I bought two HUGE boxes of Pampers Swaddlers, for 40 bucks a box. What was I thinking. That is the last time I bought name brand diapers for my child to crap in, excuse my mouth! WE switched over to Target's Up& up brand diapers, I love them, they are cute and cheap!

I also received samples of Enfamil from signing up on their mailing list, so when we started Dylan on formula, we used that. After receiving a TON from our Pedi for free, we went to buy it on our own. HOLY CRAP. That's expensive stuff. So what did we do? Switched him to generic Sam's brand. 94 Oz. for $21! A DEAL!

Wipes, they are pretty cheap in my opinion. I mean a box lasted us like 6 months. I'm not kidding. Dylan didn't have too many dirty diapers that required a whole box! But you know, I cheap-ed out on myself and bought the Up&Up. I figured that I liked everything else from them why not. I HATE THEM. They are thin, they don't come out easily ( IE, you pull one, and you get 5!), the bottom ones are soaking so much that I have to ring them out before using them. The only positive I have about them is that they are textured, which is GREAT for scrubbing dried messes off of little hiney's! So of course I bought like the 1000 wipe box of these things, so now I'm going to use them, but next time, I'll spend the extra $2 on Pampers!:)

This is more just a little public service announcement for mom's, I've been very happy with everything else generic that I have purchased, but I wouldn't recommend buying the jumbo box of wipes until you have tried a little pack to see if you like them!

Oh Christmas... Craft!

Now, I'll be the first to tell you. I'm not really crafty. I'm crafty in the way that I can follow directions. If I see something cool online, I can USUALLY follow the directions in order to achieve the finish product! Which is what happened when I saw a Christmas ball wreath. I would never in a million years have thought to do it myself. But it was easy, and cute, and there are a million different ways to make one. I used the " wire coat hanger method" because well, I forgot to get a foam wreath at Hobby Lobby, and I refused to go back for the 1000th time that week! I bought all my ornaments at the Dollar Tree, so this cost me $12, but it could have been $10, because I didn't use all my balls!:)

Because I didn't really care about placement, I just put all the big balls on, then hot glued the smaller balls in the holes. It worked out pretty well. I do have some colors that are right next to each other, but oh well, I like it that way! There are a ton of tutorials on how to do this online, just google search Christmas ornament wreath tutorial. You'll find a few different ways, and one is sure to strike your fancy.

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit

An old wives tale that I learned of when in Philly was the Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit. Apparently, if you say that on the first day of the month, before you get out of bed, you'll have a lucky month. I don't do it, but apparently I was the only one who hadn't heard of it. Nordstroms even carries a brand under that name!

Seriously though, how is it already October? I'm pretty sure that I will be saying that with November too, because I have so many things on my calendar for this month, it's ridiculous and I know it's going to fly by.

We have got a garage sale this weekend, as well as a Ranger's game tonight. Next week, I'm going to a card making class with Adam's mom and sister. We've got Shrek the Musical. A chocolate cake and wine charity event, a dinner with wine pairing that Adam's mom bought at an auction. Our family photo shoot, and a Halloween party to round out the month. Seriously y'all, that's the most I'll do in a long time! On top of that, I've started working on Dylan's birthday bash. How is it possible it's only 2 months away? I'm also thinking of doing a holiday cookie exchange party, sound fun? So I'll have to do some research on that!

I'll try to keep up with the blog, but as you can see, I'm lacking in stuff to write about. Other than Dylan that is.

Reality Teachings...

As my son sleeps, you would think I would be doing something productive like, cleaning, doing laundry, taking a shower, reading, organizing, but alas, I'm catching up on my Real Housewives. I watch pretty much all of them but the Atlanta one. So imagine my excitement when I saw that there is a Beverly Hills one coming!! In all seriousness though, I am learning from watching these. Two lessons have been learned.

1) DO NOT EVER PUT ANYTHING IN WRITING. These women, particularly the crazy Danielle from New Jersey, seems to put everything in writing, then back tracks and says" I didn't write that? If I did, I didn't understand what I was saying or answering. " My mom always told me never to put anything in writing that I didn't want someone to see, or call you out on. This show really proves that.

2) Take care of your self. These women for the most part are in their early 40's late 30's but look as though they are 60. I gave up on fake tanning a long time ago. Not only because of the whole skin cancer thing, but well because it's terribly aging on the skin. I like when I go places and still get carded ( with a baby on my hip I'll remind you) or when people guess that I'm like 18. I suppose that might be because I'm a little " vertically challenged" So with that, I started using a retinol cream on my face at night, to combat wrinkles. Since I don't wear makeup but once in a blue moon, I really need to make sure I do not look terrifying without my makeup on. You know, like those people who you see without it, and then now why they MUST go to the gym to workout with makeup on?

I feel like you can never start too soon to take care of yourself. I'm really trying to get into a routine of moisturizer and brow waxing, massages, manis, pedi's, because that is something my mom never did, and I want to make sure that I have some "ME" time. Adam has golf, I have Mani's and Pedi's!
