Right before Dylan turned 3, we made the switch to a big boy bed. For no other reason that well, I wanted too. He never tried to climb out of his crib, and he really loved it. But I was ready for him to try to be in a big boy bed. We took the front off his crib, and he loved it. He stayed in there, for the most part. He would get out to play in his room, but didn't destroy things and was super quiet, so it didn't really bother me.
One weekend he spent the night with my sister, who had him sleep in a queen sized bed. Game over. He came home asking for a bigger bed. We went probably a month before we actually decided to do it. I was exciting about "redoing" his room. Though, when I thought about it, I wasn't ready to paint over those stripes, the last thing we painted ourselves in our house! They took forever, so he is stuck with them until he moves out. I kid, I kid... maybe.
He was so excited to go pick out a new bed. Sadly, we had to order the one we wanted, and he had to wait a few days. In the meantime, we picked out a new full sized bed set, and got it all ready to go. Fire man was the theme.
The day it arrived he was like a kid in a candy store. So giddy. He has been great with it. Never fallen out and doesn't jump on it. He looks very little on it on the monitor though!:) I love his big bed because we can get in there with him to read books and tells stories when he goes to sleep. Just another sign, my baby is getting to be such a big boy. *tear*

Finally Finished
LOVE the fabric |
I obviously need to work on my bookcase styling! |
Bench seat and bookcase |
So about the paint, I painted about six swatches on the wall, we had a favorite. I bought the wrong one. Painter had it almost done before I actually looked at it. It's lighter than we wanted, and looks kinda baby blue. Eventually we will probably repaint the correct color, but for now, it's fine.
I've got some rearranging and giving away of stuff upstairs, so that room will hopefully be done soon, like 100% done, maybe next week? Who knows! Enjoy!

Training Wheels
The Christmas that Dylan had just turned two, he was gifted a Radio flyer tricycle for Christmas. It took him a while to reach the pedals, but he soon could. This last summer he really mastered it. Then of course came the fighting this spring, because Graham wanted to ride as well.
One night I was in the kitchen and I saw my neighbors also three year old riding a bike. Like a real one, with training wheels of course, but a bike non the less. I got to thinking that maybe Dylan was behind the curve so I started researching bikes. They are pretty cheap. Much cheaper than the tricycle that he and his brother were currently fighting over.
One trip to Walmart, I took him with me, so that I could set him on it to make sure of size. He was unsure of what to do, but I wasn't buying it right then so I wasn't too concerned. Probably a month later, Adam and I had the day to ourselves ( I can't remember why really) So we headed to Walmart to pick up the bike.
It was the following weekend that we gave it to Dylan. He was super excited. He rode it for about 5 min before he got frustrated that he wasn't good at pedaling( he was great at going backwards though, but you remember what pedaling backwards does for you on a kids bike? Yup, brakes), and wanted his tricycle back. Graham wanted to ride the big bike, but still couldn't quite reach the pedals.
We haven't really revisited the bike lately, but since it's getting to be sooo hot out, it might be a while until we do. I prefer to spend my outside time in the shade, or in the water. Not in the driveway sweating.
yup, he was in his slippers! |

Water babies
A few weeks ago, when it was warm, I filled up the little baby pool for the first time. I'm a little weird in that I like it to be really hot before I get into a pool. My kids are kind of the same way. Dylan has like zero body fat, so he gets cold easily, and Graham, well I didn't know how he would take to the water.
He was a little unsure at first, but he quickly got the hang of going down the slide just like his big brother. Dylan took about .02 seconds before he was blowing bubbles, and sliding. It was a great way to spend an evening. We just ventured out to the big neighborhood pool for the first time today, and they both did great. I see us spending a lot of time in the water this summer.

Missing
Man, I've been a terrible blogger for my four readers as of late. Sorry about that. I really just feel like we haven't been do much worth writing about. I've got a few things lined up, I just need to not be lazy and sit down and write about them. House projects, the boys and their craziness. We have been pretty unexciting lately. Have anything you wanna hear about? Let me know!:)
Hopefully I'll be back later today with a post!
