Big things have been happening in our house this past week! I know that I said a few weeks ago that we were going to start putting Dylan in his crib to sleep. But you know, procrastination set in and we never got around to doing the things we needed to in order for him to sleep up there. I still hadn't washed his bedding, we had to move the monitor, as well as move the glider back up the stairs!:) But we FINALLY did it. So Friday night was his first night to " sleep in his big boy bed" as I called it. He did no better, but no worse than when he was in the pack and play. He still gets up every 3 hours to eat, but then goes right back to sleep after a good burp!
We also learned that having him in the crib, and being able to see what he is doing from our bed was well worth the money spent on the video monitor. It's great to see if he is asleep when making noise or if he is waking up! Also it's funny to see him move. This boy likes to move. I'm talking doing 360's in the crib! Little Wiggle worm!
My big news is that on Tuesday we went to dinner, and I tried on some of my pre- pregnancy jeans, and well... wouldn't you know... THEY FIT!!!! I was also able to get both my wedding rings on. When I was pregnant, I had to take off my engagement ring oh I don't know, somewhere around 25 weeks or so, then I finally had to lose my wedding band at about 38 weeks, so it was exciting to be able to get them both back on!:) And I really have only worked out like 5 times doing some exercise TV shows on demand! Though we have gone on a few walks and I can't wait to get a jogging stroller ( Dylan isn't big enough for one yet... silly boy can't hold his head up!) so that we can go on some jogs to see if I can't get some more weight off!:)
Dylan is two month on Wednesday... god, time is flying by!

Mommy Switch
Adam brought it to my attention yesterday that I have " Mommy hearing" now. Most days, Adam will take Dylan for a little bit of time so that I can do whatever it is that I want. Usually it's a nap:0) When he takes him, they usually go and play video games. Yes, Adam is already embedding the video game playing into our son! But hey, I'm not going to complain because I get to take a nap! So yesterday was a pretty rough day for us. Dylan wouldn't be happy unless he was being held, and well, he gets heavy! So Adam takes him and I'm down on the couch, asleep, and I hear my baby SCREAMING! I wake up and lay there, shortly after Adam comes down the stairs to get a bottle, and he is like " could you hear that?" " Yeah, it's what woke me up" " Wow, you must have some super Mommy switch now that wakes you up the second he starts crying." " Well, yeah I guess so!" That's the conversation that took place.
I guess I didn't realize it but yeah, the second I hear him make a peep, ( usually grunting) I'm awake! Oh well, in 18 years I can sleep well again!!!

Where do they go?
My days. They seem to just slip by so fast. Did you know that when babies get older they like to take shorter naps, and are awake longer, therefore allowing me to get less and less done? I guess I knew that, but still!! We are still hanging in there. Not much has happened since my last post. I've worked out a few days ( I still hate to do it) we've gone on a few walks since it was like 70 here this past week. Adam and I went out to dinner last night, thanks for Aunt Erin for wanting to come and baby sit:)
Dylan update:
It was a big day in the Fenner house on Thursday. I put pants on Dylan and then picked him up and THEY DIDN'T FALL OFF. He's getting so big. We weighed him with our " at home baby weigh er" ( a kitchen scale with a decorative bowl on top of it!!) and he weighed in at 9 lbs!!! Chunky Monkey.
He is holding his head up a lot more now. He can only do it for about a min or two before you can tell it starts to weigh 10 pounds. Then he slams it into our chests or shoulders or wherever it might fall!
He likes to be held looking out. He is starting to look around and not just stare at the wall, so he gets frustrated when he has nothing to look at.
He is going to have a little temper. When we are giving him a bottle and take it away to burp him, he lets out the cutest, most annoyed whine, a person will ever hear. haha, we figured he would have gotten the routine down by now, but apparently not!!
We've gotten a few smiles out of him, they don't come on a regular basis, but in the mornings is our best shot

All Clear
Today my tiny little boyfriend turned 6 weeks old. What did that mean for me? Last doctors visit in a LONG time. I've seen enough Dr's to last me a lifetime! I'm glad to report that nothing exciting happened at the Dr, and everything looks great. Iron, blood pressure, weight ( though I'm still in need of losing a few lb's!) Today I got the ALL CLEAR to start working out again. Though, I'll be honest. I'm lazy. I don't work out. I could have worked out during pregnancy, but again, lazy. So today, after getting home from a meal of a cheeseburger and cheese fries, compliments of Snuffers, I worked out. Since it's kinda crappy outside right now, and well Dylan is still to small for a jogging stroller, I've decided I'll do the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michael's. I am walking a fine line with working out. I've read and heard that working out can drastically reduce your milk supply, and well, since we're already having issues with that I'll have to watch it very closely, and just hang on to those last pounds until I'm ready to stop nursing! So there you have it. The latest with us.
Yesterday was the first time since we've been back that I got a massage where I could lay on my belly and let me tell you... it was divine! Such a difference, and man, you don't really realize how much 7 or 8 pounds is and the toll it takes on your muscles until you have a massage. Thanks to my sister baby sitting, we were able to enjoy our day and not worry about the little man.
American Idol also started last night, so my mom came over to watch it with my sister, Adam and I. I can't believe the number of people that think they are good singers when wow, they just suck... I can't wait to see the characters the show up at the Dallas auditions!:)

Weekend wrap up...
Wow, I can't remember the last time that we had such a busy weekend. We are normally, stay at home, never get out of pj's on the weekend kinda people. Not this weekend.
Friday night, Adam fulfilled his " Date Night" coupon, that I got for Christmas. He kept everything a surprise, and it was nice to get out of the house without the little man. Though, he has such a great track record with restaurants, we could have taken him:) The evening started off with a scrumptious dinner at Trulucks, a crab place, that neither one of us had been too. It was great. I highly recommend the crab cake, there were absolutely no fillers, it was straight crab. Anyway, then we followed up the evening with a trip to the IMAX. We saw Avatar in 3D. Now, I haven't ever seen a 3D movie, and the only one Adam had ever seen was that stupid My Bloody Valentine! I must say. It was A- Freaking- MAZING. It's wild how much 3d can change the experience of a movie, I don't know how good I would have thought that it was without it!
Then Saturday, we did something that we hardly ever do. We did different things!:) In the nine years that Adam and I have been together, it would be a very rare occasion that you would ever find us out doing different things. I guess it's good that we have common interests, and that we like being together. But anyway, Megan had invited me to a girls night that she was having earlier in the week, so that was my plan. So I was leaving Daddy home with Dylan. Well, once Adam thought about it, turns out he made plans to go over to Colter's. I can't say I wasn't a little sad, because well, he always leaves, so this was my chance. But it worked out well. Aunt Erin got to baby sit he most handsome nephew! She had come over earlier in the day, and well, we roped her into staying to watch him! All we had to say was media room with 104 Inch projection of the game, and she was game!;) He was once again a little angel and well they watched the game together.
Girls night was fun, good food, catchphrase, and football. Very rarely would you hear about a girls night where watching football was the #1 priority, but I guess that's why I had fun, and of course, THE COWBOYS WON!!!

Another one!!
No not another baby to what ever crazies thought that;) As I sit here at 5am I thought of another " must have" nightlights!! It's nice to have a good amount of light without having to blind anyone by turning a lamp or over head light on:) Now if tiny man would finish eating we could go to sleep and not look at nightlights anymore!!!

My Mommy Must Haves
Now that Dylan has reached the ripe old age of one month, I feel like I have a better idea of those " must haves" that I couldn't live without. These are going to be in no particular order, just things that I use on an everyday basis, or well almost everyday basis!
1) My Little Lamb Swing. BEST money spent for this little fella. He loves his swing. It allows me to take a shower. He also sleeps in it sometimes, when he doesn't want to be in his pack and play.
2) Pack and Play with changing table attachment. I spent months and months thinking how I wanted his nursery to look, and well he's been in there ONCE. I took him with me to get a pair of pants ( I have since then moved most of his clothes down to our room) He sleeps in his pack and play at the foot of our bed. We did have to get him a little inclined sleep posisioner, mainly for the little arm things on it. So he feels like he's being held. But we love that thing. I don't have to go far when he wakes up in the middle of the night, and we don't have to go all the way upstairs to change him.
3) Diaper Genie. We could probably live without this because his diapers don't smell that bad yet, but there is no way we could just put them in any old trash can. We have two VERY interested dogs, and I bet dirty diapers would be on their list of things to steal out of the trash!
4) Newborn Diapers and clothes. Now I know this might not be true for everyone, but Dylan is still in Newborn everything. Though because he has been spitting up a lot now, we've started to put him in some 0-3 months stuff. But it just swims on him!
5) Bottle warmer. We JUST started to use this. Dylan has been breastfed, but because of not gaining enough weight, we have to supplement with formula. Running warm water over a bottle TAKES F.O.REVER to heat cold water! The bottle warmer does it much faster and you don't have to stand there to hold it!
6) Carseat and stroller travel system. Dylan loves his carseat when he is in the car!:) It has allowed us to go out to eat several times becuase well, he sleeps so well in it!
7) Last but not least. Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddle Blankets! OMG, I LOVE THESE THINGS. They are amazing. I quickly figured out that you CAN NOT swaddle with Carters receiving blankets. I have read about people doing it with those, and I can't for the life of me figure out how they manage it. Dylan didn't last 5 minuets in those. These muslin blankets have a good stretch to them, so you can really get them tight. These will be what I give anyone I know for a baby shower gift. They are hands down, AMAZING, and cute too!:)

A Whale of a good time!
As I mentioned earlier in a post, Dylan loves bath time. He can be screaming his head off, He really likes to have clothes and a diaper on, and once we take them off he is not a happy boy, but once we set him down into his whale tub, he is a happy camper. He loves to have the water poured on him, and to just chill. I guess he gets his love of baths from me. I take one almost every single night. So finally, I took some good pictures of him taking a bath. I know I know, I'm a bad mom, becuase I didn't document his first at home bath, but at least in these, he's happy!! Too bad he doesn't quite smile yet, but I bet he would if he could!:)

One
Wow. ONE month. Time sure does fly! Dylan turned one month old on Saturday. He's getting to be such a big boy! So much has changed in that one month!
I have learned soooo much about him, and from him!
- He is awake much more during the day
- Luckily, he still sleeps well. Sleeps all evening, up around midnight, then up again at 4 or 5, then up at 9. Such a good boy lets Mommy and Daddy sleep till 9:)
- He loves baths, when he is in them, that is.
- Any type of movement will put him to sleep.
- He loves tummy time, as long as it is on someones chest.
- He is starting to see more things, you can see him keep his eyes on stuff. He REALLY likes overhead lights. He'll stare at them forever!
- He loves to be swaddled by Daddy. Mommy doesn't do it good enough, he always gets out of it!

Things he has taught me:
- My house is never clean, but a crying baby is much more important
- Eating is good, I don't do enough of it!
- To take naps, they are wonderful!
I can't believe over a month ago, he was born. Some days it feels like he's been here forever, and others, well it's still surreal. He got to meet lots of new people this past week. Lot's of " Uncles" if you will. Though not really his uncles, these guys have been a part of Adam and I's life for a while now. He got to meet- Noah, Andrew, and Josh. Oh and he got to meet a new friend Carson, two of them actually. Baby Carson, along with Momma Becca and Toddler Carson. It's been a great start to the new year so far, it's hard to remember to write 2010 on stuff, but thankfully I don't have to do it much!
