We made it!

We made it to our town house in the mountains at about 2:30 their time. Not bad.  We quickly set up pack and plays so that Graham could get a nap.  We knew Dylan would be too excited to actually take a nap.  We were right.  But lucky for us, he did go to bed early.  While the townhouse Adam's parents rented was really nice.  It was terrible.  It was on the mountain, so of course they built up.  There were, like 6 or 8 ( I forget) flights of stairs.  I consider myself in pretty good shape, but dang, in the mountains, that was tough stuff.

We spent the first night at home, we didn't want to risk taking the boys out for dinner, not knowing how they would react.  That was a pretty good idea, because Graham was not a happy boy come dinner.  We unpacked, and discussed the weeks plans.  Adam and his dad planned to play golf two of the days, while his mom and I planned on the Spa and lunch another day.  I honestly would rather Adam play soccer 5 days a week than play golf because it takes way to freaking long.  He is gone for 6 hours when he plays.  It's like he went to work!:)  But the weather was too nice to deny him playing twice on vacation.  I know, I'm too nice!:)  The first day they played, his mom and I loaded up the boys and walked across the street to the park.  Grandma had taken Dylan the first day, so it was old hat to him, he wanted his shoes off, and he wanted to swing.  I set Graham in the grass, he wasn't a huge fan!

We ate at many good restaurants, our favorite from last year was a hit again, Sweet Basil.  It's probably the best restaurant in Vail.  Yum, Yum.  We also tried a Latin place, a tapas place, we ate at home a few nights, Adam and I had a date night to a resort on the mountain's restaurant. I know there are more, I just can't think of it.

We obviously did lots of things, but I don't bore you with details. The most notable is probably the fact that Graham got a new tooth while on the trip.  This didn't make for a very happy GramBam, nor did it make for very fun diapers.  I'm not sure if it was the tooth cutting, or some of the yummy table food he was trying, but he had an upset tummy basically the whole time we were there.  Luckily, he seemed to be acting fine, but he was not happy about the really bad diaper rash he got.  Luckily, a few baking soda baths and a trip to walmart for diaper cream worked it's magic and it went away pretty quickly.  But he came back with a new pearly white front tooth.  My baby is no longer a vampire.

It was nearly impossible to keep graham from trying to kill himself on the stairs.  He is good at going up them, but obviously has no idea how to go down them.  He tricked us with his speed a few times, luckily I could him as he was rolling down the second to top stair.  That could have been bad.

Dylan loved having attention from his Grandparents, as well as having Daddy around for so long.  He did great, was happy almost all of the time.  Though he did want to play in the water all the time.  There was a heated pool, but we knew he couldn't handle it.  It was too cold outside.  He did get to play in the fountains at the center of Beaver Creek though, he enjoyed that.  Though even that water was too cold!

Overall, it was a great family vacation, but we were ready to go home, sleep in our own beds, use our own showers, and play with the toys that the boys didn't have there.  Oh, and to see our new patio!  ( blog coming on that soon!:))

Getting there

We were gone a week.  I'll break up the posts into three so they don't bore you too much!

You are welcome honey!
We had been asking each other for weeks what the other thought was the best time to leave.  WE had decided early morning on Saturday.  So I thought.  Friday I spent all day doing laundry, cleaning so we could come home to a cleanish house, and getting the dogs situated for their sitter.  Adam comes home at 5, and says " Have you given any more thought to leaving tonight?"  Well to be honest, I hadn't thought about it at all, I thought that we were leaving in the morning.  I hadn't packed a. single. thing, I had a soccer game at 9:42, and well, it was already 5pm, and I hadn't taken a nap that day.  Needless to say, I needed an answer because I had already given a "yes" to attending my game, and I needed to let someone know if plans had changed.  The answer was, " lets leave after your game." So I scrambled to get packed, the boys, me and Adam, toys, diapers, baby food, baby gates ( that proved useless) soccer stuff, clothes to drive in.  It was a mess.  We managed to get out the door just in time for me to not be late to my game.

Remember, my game was at 9:42, stupid time yes I know, but that put us getting done 10:22.  Adam drove around with the boys during the game, hoping to get them to go to sleep.  No dice.  So when he picks me up, Graham had JUST fallen asleep.  We had to run by Adam's parents house, so we really didn't start out on our 15 hour journey until about 10:45.  So we get on the freeway.  People, we sat on 635( major freeway for those not in the area) for at least 30-40 minuets.  It was soo stupid.  Then we get to 114, with all this dumb construction and road closings.  At this point, it was after 11, and I think Adam and I both were having second thoughts.  I was gross and sweaty, Graham had woken up because of all the starting and stopping and Dylan was just kinda chilling.  But it was late, and we weren't even out of the metroplex.

He required this really old towel on him!
Finally we get on a road that isn't closed and we get going.  Folks, will you believe me if I told you that the boys slept for the entire night?  I didn't think we had a chance.  No here is where I get bad mom of the year.  They were both forward facing.  I realized they could basically be laying flat if I could recline the seats.  Yes I know, technically it's against the law for graham to be flipped, but oh well.  He is back rear facing now, as is Dylan, so all is good.  But they slept.  Graham woke up at about 4:30, and played for an hour with who knows what, and went back to sleep.  They were both awake and ready to play at about 7.  We stopped at Denny's, then at a park for about half an hour.  Then we turned on Mickey and continued our trek.

I think Adam and I stopped about 3 times total.  The mini seriously gets the best gas mileage ever.  We would only fill up because we were at a gas station.  Not because it needed it.  Adam drove the bulk of the way there.  About 10 hours, while I filled in the gaps of about 5 hours.  It was a pretty drive, and I'm super happy that the boys did great.

( upon trying to take the pictures of sleeping people, I realized my camera memory card was dead, so no good pictures of the car ride.  Sorry!)

Eleven

First came friendship. Then came love. Then marriage. Then two baby boys in a baby carriage. Today, Adam and I celebrate our eleven year, yes you read that right, ELEVEN year dating anniversary. So much has happened in that time, it's hard to believe that two 16 year olds could have made it in this crazy world. Graduating high school, moving away to college, Adam taking a semester to study abroad in Germany, Graduating College, Moving to Pennsylvania, Getting Pregnant, moving back home to Texas, having said baby, Mom dieing, Adam finally getting a job, getting pregnant again, having this baby, Two under two. Two boys. The two lights of our life. Adam and I have beat almost every statistic.

Adam, ( when you get around to reading this)

I'm so lucky to have found you so early in life. I couldn't wish for a better husband or father to our two boys. They love you so much, and so do I. Thanks for putting up with us!:) I hope we have many more 11 year anniversaries!

Resolutions

I'm sure you have read a million and one 2012 Resolutions. But I thought that I would throw some of mine out there. Yes, I probably won't stick to them after about a month or so, but I don't think they are too lofty if I actually want to stick to it.

1. Lose weight: I might have been in my pre-pregnancy jeans after two weeks, but I can guarantee you, I'm about 20 lbs from where I was when I got pregnant!

2. Run: Complete Couch25K again. It worked once, maybe it'll work again.

3. Play soccer: Becca and I are going to a soccer practice this week for a women's team. I have not touched a ball in... oh, 8 years. It could get ugly.

4. Organize: MY house needs organizing in a major way. I'm starting with the pantry.

5. Projects: Personalize the house. I'm trying to talk Adam into hardwood floors in the formals. He blames Pinterest.

6. Read: I need to get back into reading. Once the boys go down, we try to catch up on TV, maybe a book wouldn't hurt!

7. Clean :Keep a tidier house: One where if someone where to stop by unannounced I wouldn't freak out and not let them in. That might not sound hard, but that means I'll be picking up toys like 1000 times a day!

8. Me Time: Take some more time for me. I got my hair cut, like once last year. Maybe I'll strive for twice this year!:) I also need to go have my eyes checked and get new glasses and contacts!

9. Save Money: Make a weekly menu and go grocery shopping with Adam on Sundays, less eating out. Go through cookbooks for more meal ideals.

10. Baby Food: I want to make Graham's baby food. I did a good job of it with Dylan, but once he got to the meats I gave up. It was WAY to hard to get the right consistency, so I just gave up. I hope to do a better job with Graham's food.

Weekend Getaway

Over Labor day weekend, Adam and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend a wedding for a college friend of ours in Austin. I say lucky, because not only did we get to go, but we also got to go alone. Adam's parents took in our child for 4 whole days! I say it to Adam all the time, but really, if we didn't leave near them and utilize their willingness to watch our rug rat, we would do nothing! Anywho, we dropped Dylan off early Friday morning, and made our way down to Austin. Only pit stopping once, which is pretty good for being 36 weeks pregnant. That one stop was not even for a potty break really. We stopped in West, Texas for some Kolaches. I couldn't tell you the last time I had been to Austin, but every time I go I stop there. Yummy in my tummy. We even stopped on the way back to get some for our freezer, for after Graham arrives.

Friday was " boys" day. They played a little mini golf, drank some beer, shot some guns and ate some all you can eat BBQ. Could they sound any more Texas? The gals, we had a nice dinner at Bucca Di Beppo, which was really good. I liked the variety since well, everything pasta and carb, sounds so good right now.

I love that about every year someone from our college friends gets married. It's a great reunion time. Though we are running out of people. We sadly had to miss two of the weddings in the past, one because we were in Philly, and another because Dylan was like 2 weeks old. We are going to be missing another one in October because Graham will probably be about 2 weeks old as well. I really should time having babies better!;)

We spent Saturday, eating good food, shopping, and spending time catching up with folks we hadn't seen in years. I love how our group of friends will travel from everywhere to come to weddings, we had people from California, Alaska, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and New York. How awesome is that?

The wedding was beautiful, the reception fun, though I didn't do much dancing for obvious reasons. Though Adam made me get out there for one song, it was a Miley Cyrus song where everyone jumped. There was no way that was happening!:)

The next morning at our hotel we were woken up by dogs barking, it took us a while to figure out that, no a dog show wasn't in town, but it was a bunch of people who had to find shelter from the wild fires. It was a mad house in there I tell you. I'm glad that we made the trip to see friends that we probably won't see for at least another year or so. I am also thankful that we were able to do so without taking Dylan. We probably wouldn't have gone other wise.

Countdown

8 weeks to go. Where has time gone? As we draw closer and closer to Graham's sweet arrival. I get more excited and more terrified at the same time. I wonder how on earth could I possibly love this baby as much as I love Dylan.? I know every new mom wonders that, and I'm not alone, but it still has me worried. Dylan has been my life for the last almost two years. Sometimes I look at him and get tears in my eyes because he is just so sweet, and he won't have my full attention anymore, he'll be too young to understand why mommy can't hold him right now. I know once they are both older they will get to play together and that will melt my heart, it is just those first few months I worry about.

I worry about how I will make time to do the things with Dylan that we currently do, story time, pump it up, random Target outings just to get out of the house, trips to the park, how on earth will I do those things with a newborn? I know it can and will be done, but it makes me tired just thinking about it.

Luckily for me, Dylan likes to share, so I will probably have to be very vigilant that he isn't shoving goldfish in his baby brothers mouth, or coloring on him with colors.

I am most excited to see them together. They will play, be rowdy and wild. They will fight, no doubt, but they will be buddies who go explore. I am, like I said incredibly excited to welcome baby boy Graham into this world, though at the same time, I know our world as we know it will change, once again, for the better. There is and will be until the day he arrives, the though in the back of my mind, oh man, what did we do?

This last picture is 32 weeks with Dylan for comparison, one of the only ones I've got!:)

Shoulda

I have decided that instead of Dylan Kyle, we should have named him Dylan Monkey. Everyday, this little guy finds something new to stand on, or climb into or out of.

He is just loving going to the pool so much, he will sit in his float until I give in and take him to the water! Smart fella.

(Please excuse the hole in the sock!)

Doesn't he look like he knows what he is doing? Reality is... he's stuck. He will get there then yell for me to come help him. He hasn't figured out how to get down yet. Silly Monkey.

Fun Weekend... late of course!

I have no excuse for the lack of quality, if you want to call them that, posts. I've been lazy. It's impossible to post while Dylan is awake, and I'm either catching up on chores or sleeping when he is asleep!

This past Memorial day weekend was probably the best we've had in a long while. We got so much accomplished. I think Daddy's should always have 3 day weekends. It's good for a Mom's soul!

Friday went a little something like this. I was going to take Dylan over to the Grandparents at like 2, but he decided he wanted to take a four hour nap. We didn't get over there until almost 5. I dropped him off and went to enjoy a manicure. I decided to get a gel manicure, you know, those that are supposed to last 2 weeks. Lets just say, mine came off on Monday! Then it was a dinner date for Adam and I's four year anniversary. We enjoyed a nice steak dinner at Bob's steak house. Side note: I have yet to find a steak I like as much as Bob's.

Saturday, we got up so that Adam and Colter could try to score some NBA playoff tickets. That didn't work, because I'm pretty sure the online purchasing program is rigged. After that failure, Adam was searching Craigslist for a non-shady person who was selling their tickets. That preoccupied him most of the day. Luckily, I didn't need his brain to be there when we went to purchase furniture for the new nursery. I really just needed him to sit in some chairs and tell me if they were comfy or not. Mission accomplished. We then continued our child-free day with lunch at the Purple Cow. Ya'll, they have fried pickle spears. No one but Burger Island has those! YUM.

We eventually made our way down to Northpark Mall to meet some guy to buy his Mav's tickets for game 5. (Luckily, there will BE a game 5.) After going all the way down there, we treated ourselves to pedicures. I love me a good pedi, as does Adam. After we had to go and pick up our lovely little boy! We met Grandma, Grandpa and Dylan at Pappadeux for dinner.

Sunday, we had another fun filled BBQ to attend. Becca was nice enough to invite us to her family's get together. Dylan had a blast getting to play with his friends Carson, and Ryder. He loved carrying the soccer ball around. He wasn't to fond of the water slide, I think because the water was so cold, because usually he is all over the water, and slides for that matter. Heck, he even got to play some volleyball, and make a new Mimi friend!:) We had a great weekend.

Update

It has been brought to my attention that some of my lovely readers would like an update on kiddo #2, as well as Dylan! I scrolled through the last several posts and there wasn't one picture to be had. SAD. I'll be honest though, I havn't picked up my camera in a while. I think it's just becuase Dylan is all over the place, I focus on keeping him from putting things in the toilet, unrolling all the toilet paper, or throwing my phone down the stairs!

So, I always knew the second pregnancy would be differnt, but I'll tell you what, I CANNOT beleive I am almost 18 weeks pregnant. I really would have no idea I was pregnant, other than the fact I'm huge, and occassionally getting kicked in the bladder.:) Adam and I completed our "nursery renovation" of sorts this weekend(post on that later) I have a little over 3 weeks until we find out if Dylan will have a brother or sister, and let me tell you what, it's going to be a LONG 3 weeks! So, with Dylan, I started taking 'belly shots' at like 8 weeks. Well, I finally got one the other night at 17 weeks. I am going to compare it to my I beleive 25 week picture with Dylan! You definatly show quicker, and bigger with the second!

Dylan, wow what can I say? HE IS A WILD CHILD. He will NOT sit still, he is into everything. He spends a good portion of his day naked from the waist down. He can run now, so what does he do when he see's a diaper? RUNS. He thinks it is hilarious, and I generally don't really care. When he pee's we've gotten lucky and he has been standing on the tile! Can you beleive that he is 17 months old now? He has all 4 molars, and he is wild. That's all I can say. We went to storytime yesterday at the library, he was the only kiddo who wouldn't sit in his momma's lap.

So, I am so far behind, I haven't put up Easter pictures. We missed actual easter, but luckily our niehgborhood had an egg hunt the weekend before. He was a good egg hunter, he got 4 eggs. I wasn't one of the many women who grabbed eggs from other kids so taht my kid could have a basket full of candy he couldn't eat anyway!

I promise I will do a picture post in the next few days. I've got a few to share!:)

Accomplished

I did it. It wasn't pretty, but I did it. I ran/ walked, thought about crawling but didn't, 13.1 miles. It was the hardest, most painful thing I've ever done in my life. It was way worse than having a baby. I have never felt so old in my life. I had ice on both my knees, and an ankle last night. I took two screaming hot baths, one at 1 PM another at 9. I can hardly walk. My feet hurt, like the bones in my feet. Never have I felt this. But you know what? I DID IT! My goal was to finish in 3 hours. I finished in 3 hours and 24 seconds;) So I'm counting it. Considering that the farthest I had run was 4 miles, I think that was pretty good. I also hadn't run in over 3 weeks, so my body was a little upset at the fact I was trying to do 13.1 miles! After about mile 6 I was ready to quit. I had no energy and no amount of GU gel's or fancy jelly beans were working. But I just walked, with a little running here and there! Even that was hard. I am also pretty sure, my idea of a mile is very different than everyone elses. They just kept getting longer and longer. But like I said. I DID IT. I will NOT ever do it again without proper training though. I don't advise it.

Lazy

I have no excuses. I'm lazy. So to my 5 readers, I'm sorry I haven't updated you on the happenings in this house in a while. Lots has happened in February! Adam and I celebrated our 10 year dating "anniversary", went and spent the night away in Paris (no no just Paris TX),we celebrated Valentines day and of course I turned 26. That's still pretty weird to think about. But I don't feel like I look or feel 26, so I'm not freaking out don't worry! This month seems to have flown by. I think it has something to do with the 2 weeks of freezing icy weather, that kept us locked in the house. Like my last post stated, I really loved being in, but this past week has been gorgeous, and I've enjoyed taking my little man to the park and sitting outside blowing bubbles!

I know that none of you readers care what Adam and I are doing, which is actually good, because it's not much. So I know y'all want a Dylan update. He is almost 15 months. Can you believe that? He amazes me everyday. He learns something new, and you can just see his brain churning. It's awesome. Oh yeah, and last week, he decided to walk full time. Yup, finally. He very rarely crawls anymore. Really just when he falls and needs to get somewhere quickly! He has tried running, but isn't quite there. He seems like much less of a baby now that he can walk. He is so cute doing it too, his back arches, and he really loves to carry things. The last couple of days it's been plastic baby coat hangers! He also really likes Daddy's putter.

Mom Shoes

First let me say, sorry. It was brought to my attention via Facebook message from a reader that said she couldn't read my blog posts recently because I was using black font on a black background. When I read it on my computer it was grey font, but I went ahead and just changed backgrounds for the time being. So hopefully now, everyone can read it!

So Mom shoes. You know, kinda like the mom haircut, or mom jeans. Being a mom, comfort is numero uno. Unfortunately, I have somewhat of a shoe addiction, but come on ladies, who doesn't? My addiction usually is for heals. Why? I have no idea, since I don't really wear heals. They just appeal to me. Anyway, heals are not comfortable, or safe to wear while toting around a tot, I have fallen TWICE carrying Dylan wearing them. So I have entered the world of flats. You see, I tried to not buy flats for a long time. I felt like they would make me look shorter than my 5'2 self. But recently, I have been on a search for the perfect flats. I mean come on, this year, I actually bought flat BOOTS. Someone is stepping up in the style department.

For my birthday last year, Adam bought me Tory Burch Reva flats. I had heard these are THE most comfy flat there is. Well, maybe it's because I am like an in between size, not a 6.5 but the 7 flips off my heal, but these are not that comfy. Comfy, yes, but walking on clouds? I don't think so. I also have a pair of Cole Haan Nike air flats, that I purchased shortly after Dylan was born. I should have waited. Apparently my feet were fat, seeing as now those are too big. I think a slip stop will help. Note to self.

Along with my search for a comfy flat, I also wanted them to be brown. The above mentioned shoes are black, and a cranberry color. So I thought brown or grey would be good. Do you KNOW how hard it is to locate brown flats? Impossible! I looked at Macys, Nordstroms, Dillards, and several DSW's. Until yesterday, I was at a loss. DSW finally helped me out by bringing in some bronze shoes. Ok, so not brown but close. They are simple bronze shoes. And guess what? LIKE WALKING ON CLOUDS! They are so comfy! I love the brand Me Too. It's my new favorite! Now, I have heard TOM's are great, so of course, I put them on my Christmas list, and hope that I will be able to try those out!

Do you have any suggestions for flats I should try!?

Busy, Busy Bee's

Dylan and I have been busy little bee's these last few weeks. For those of you who don't know, Adam got another contract job, which might turn into a full time position if he wishes to accept, we don't really know the details or anything yet though. So, with him being gone, Stay at home Mommyhood has begun. You know, it's harder than I thought that it would be. Dylan is mentally exhausting. He doesn't like to stay still, and see that he isn't too mobile yet means I have to do a lot of work!

We've been shopping at the outlets, Babies R US, Home goods, Target, the grocery stores and the mall, we went to visit Aunt Erin and Michelle in Bonham, they came to visit us, we go on morning runs ( for my sake of course), bounce in the jumperoo, and have mastered sitting. We are trying to keep ourselves occupied. Not only have WE been busy, but Dylan himself has become quite the little adventurer. One thing that I have learned being home with him is... WE ARE IN TROUBLE. He is into everything, wants to touch everything, eat everything, see everything. It's funny and exciting at the same time to see his little personality shine.

Because of this busy-ness, he has been giving us the biggest issue with eating. The kid doesn't like to eat, when there are more exciting things he can be doing. We usually just lay him on the couch in the boppy and feed him, but he has learned that he can push himself up into sitting, so now it's almost impossible to feed him unless he is STARVING! I can no longer have the TV on, or my phone or remote near him or he immediately NEEDS to have it. Luckily for us though, he doesn't seem to through temper tantrums when we don't let him have something, he just finds something else to try for, and the cycle repeats itself until he can have whatever he finds.

I'm so excited to see him crawl and walk, but wow, I am going to be in BIG trouble when that happens!

Recommendations?

I need help my bloggy friends. I am trying to find a book to read. I have officially depleated my stash. I am a simple reader. I like chic lit, I won't lie! I don't like to have to think when I am recreationally reading! I read to many books in High school that required thinking. Some books that I've read latley , just to give you an idea of what I read, The Last Song, Dear John, the 9th book of the Sookie Stackhouse series, The Art of Racing in the Rain ( DOG LOVERS, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.) I think that's about it. Any recommendations?

Almost a decade...

Yesterday Adam and I celebrated our NINE year "dating " anniversary. By celebrated I mean, I got breakfast in bed, and we went out to dinner. Nothing fancy:) So I thought that I would do a post based on the last nine years. I scanned all kinds of pictures ( because digitalis were a thing of the future back then) So you'll have to forgive the poor quality!!! Let me start of by saying, that we have beaten the odds. We have been together thick and thin for these past years. Not a day broken up, as was a popular thing to do in high school. Adam asked me out February 9, 2001 and we have been together EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. since. Though he was in Germany for a few months studying abroad ;) So lets get started shall we? And again, sorry for the poor quality of images!

This here is the VERY first picture ever taken of Adam and I once we were officially " going out"

Here we are at Putt Putt, sometime early. I'm not exactly sure when. But I actually developed this picture in my photo- Journalism class, so it was sometime during Junior year!:)

Homecoming 2001. Mum exchange at Liz Russel's house. Funny story ( Sorry Adam) So we were doing this " mum exchange" and Adam shows up at Liz's house late, and WITHOUT my mum. He said he didn't know that he was supposed to bring it!;) haha, so he had to run home and get it during rush hour traffic. We missed all of the group photo's because of this. Needless to stay, the next year he didn't forget it!

At dinner before the homecoming dance. Ruggeries ( or something like that) in Addison. It's no longer there!!!
Medieval Times. Senior year homecoming. This was the night that the girls took the guys out. It was a really fun time. All the boys got the little light wand things...:)
Mum exchange! He brought it this time! And it even had lights and a cow bell on it!:) It was so heavy I had to wear a rope around my neck to school so that it wouldn't pull my shirt off!
Professional picture taken at the dance. I loved my dress. It's funny looking back on it now, how I could have ever thought that I was " fat" in high school. I would KILL to look like this again!!! Maybe some day!
Prom 2003. We had just finished pictures and we were in the Escalade Limo heading to dinner! We look pretty happy to be going to PROM!!!
The first vacation that I ever went on with Adam and his family. Skiing in Colorado. Little did I know that there would be MANY more vacations with them!
Skipping ahead a few years here, because of pictures being lost... Christmas Party 2006 with Adam and I's friends from A&M!!

So I know I'm missing lots of pictures from our engagement, and our three week trip around Europe, but there are too many to put on here. Though here is one of us in Barcelona!

Skip ahead, we're Mr. and Mrs. Fenner, May 2007!!!!
This is self explanatory! I gave Adam that onesie along with a positive test as a way to tell him about, who is now, Dylan!!!

Adam graduates!!!! We move back to Texas!!!
Where we are living happily ever after !!!! ( Cheesy I know!)
So there you have it. Adam and I over 9 years. Hope I didn't bore you too much. It was fun for me to look back through all of our old pictures and remember the things we have done!!!

All Clear

Today my tiny little boyfriend turned 6 weeks old. What did that mean for me? Last doctors visit in a LONG time. I've seen enough Dr's to last me a lifetime! I'm glad to report that nothing exciting happened at the Dr, and everything looks great. Iron, blood pressure, weight ( though I'm still in need of losing a few lb's!) Today I got the ALL CLEAR to start working out again. Though, I'll be honest. I'm lazy. I don't work out. I could have worked out during pregnancy, but again, lazy. So today, after getting home from a meal of a cheeseburger and cheese fries, compliments of Snuffers, I worked out. Since it's kinda crappy outside right now, and well Dylan is still to small for a jogging stroller, I've decided I'll do the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michael's. I am walking a fine line with working out. I've read and heard that working out can drastically reduce your milk supply, and well, since we're already having issues with that I'll have to watch it very closely, and just hang on to those last pounds until I'm ready to stop nursing! So there you have it. The latest with us.

Yesterday was the first time since we've been back that I got a massage where I could lay on my belly and let me tell you... it was divine! Such a difference, and man, you don't really realize how much 7 or 8 pounds is and the toll it takes on your muscles until you have a massage. Thanks to my sister baby sitting, we were able to enjoy our day and not worry about the little man.

American Idol also started last night, so my mom came over to watch it with my sister, Adam and I. I can't believe the number of people that think they are good singers when wow, they just suck... I can't wait to see the characters the show up at the Dallas auditions!:)

One

Wow. ONE month. Time sure does fly! Dylan turned one month old on Saturday. He's getting to be such a big boy! So much has changed in that one month!

I have learned soooo much about him, and from him!
- He is awake much more during the day
- Luckily, he still sleeps well. Sleeps all evening, up around midnight, then up again at 4 or 5, then up at 9. Such a good boy lets Mommy and Daddy sleep till 9:)
- He loves baths, when he is in them, that is.
- Any type of movement will put him to sleep.
- He loves tummy time, as long as it is on someones chest.
- He is starting to see more things, you can see him keep his eyes on stuff. He REALLY likes overhead lights. He'll stare at them forever!
- He loves to be swaddled by Daddy. Mommy doesn't do it good enough, he always gets out of it!

Things he has taught me:

- My house is never clean, but a crying baby is much more important
- Eating is good, I don't do enough of it!
- To take naps, they are wonderful!

I can't believe over a month ago, he was born. Some days it feels like he's been here forever, and others, well it's still surreal. He got to meet lots of new people this past week. Lot's of " Uncles" if you will. Though not really his uncles, these guys have been a part of Adam and I's life for a while now. He got to meet- Noah, Andrew, and Josh. Oh and he got to meet a new friend Carson, two of them actually. Baby Carson, along with Momma Becca and Toddler Carson. It's been a great start to the new year so far, it's hard to remember to write 2010 on stuff, but thankfully I don't have to do it much!

Almost, but not quite

You don't really think about it when you are pregnant. But those annoying things during pregnancy are our bodies way of kinda preparing us for what is to come at the end of the nine months. Like I said, I didn't really think about this until well, I came home with a newborn, and those annoying pregnancy things were a walk in the park!

As most who read this blog know, I absolutely LOVED being pregnant. Granted, I had a very easy time, but I loved every minuet of it. In fact, I kinda miss it, and can't wait until the second time ( which will not be for a while, don't worry) But as I sit awake at 4 AM, I think about the things I mentioned above. So here is the list I came up with!

1) Getting up 900 times a night to pee----- Not bad considering, you get to stumble there, and stumble back and get back to sleep in a matter of moments. With a newborn, you have to get up every three hours. Yes I set an alarm, because my little man LOVES his sleep. But it's not a quick thing to do. You gotta wake baby up, feed him with could take forever depending on how you are feeding them, change them, then hope and pray they are going to back to sleep.

2) Bending over while pregnant. The only time I had a problem with this was when I had eaten to much and well, I couldn't breath. Well try bending over holding a baby who has no head control to speak of! It's VERY hard... I've gotten good at picking things up with my feet, that is if I'm sitting on the couch!

3) Naps: A past time of most pregnant ladies, I know it was of mine. I have always been a napper. I can take an hour nap and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. Well, with a newborn you gotta take naps. I mean a nap from 8-9 PM is GREAT. I feel sorry for anyone who can't take naps. My poor husband can't. Luckily, I don't really wake him up in the middle of the night. His boobs are no good to our son!;)

4) Annoying comments. Who doesn't get tired of the same comments over and over when pregnant. My favorite " How are you feeling?" I hated that question when I was pregnant. But I got it all the time. Well, when you have a baby, you will get all kind of information from lots of sources, that well you might not agree with or want to hear, but you gotta take it with a grain of salt! ( And no, I haven't gotten to much of that, that I've listened to at least!;) )

So that's all I can think of now, I didn't have an issue with pregnancy brain, but man do I have newborn brain. If I don't write it down, I forget it!
