My new toy!

I mentioned in my last "real" post about my new toy I got for Christmas! Well, I know you all were on the end of your seats to know what it is, well, maybe not, but oh well I'll tell you anyway! I got a new camera lens. I got a new digital camera last year for Christmas, and hadn't really thought about getting a new cool lens to go with it, so I got the kit lens which was great. But now that Dylan is here, I wanted to try to get a little more creative with my pictures, so I started looking into upgrading my lens. So what I got is a 50mm 1.4 lens. It's cool because it allows to have blurred backgrounds. It's main purpose is a " portrait" lens, so hopefully I'll be getting some good ones of the little man! I still need to practice a lot with it, like focusing the correct area of the picture in all, but here are some that I have taken!

I am still trying to remember everything about my photography days, so I can start trying to shoot in manual more.

These are all straight out of the camera shots, which no editing...
though some of them could probably use some editing!:) lol, the shoe is a Christmas ornament:)

Again??

Snow in Texas?? Twice in one week? We'll see I guess!! Wish us luck today Dylan goes in for a weigh in to see if he's up to birth weight yet!! That 1.5 iches he grew in two weeks is killing us in fattening him up:)

A little different this year

Christmas was a little different this year, as to be expected, when you have a new addition to the family:) Not only was it Dylan's first, it was the first one in our new home, the first one where we got to spend it with both families ( since being married) and the first as a family.

Christmas Eve was spent over at Adam's parents house, where there were some other family members. Adam's Grandmother and her husband, and his aunt, uncle and cousin. So Dylan got to meet some of his extended family, though I bet that he won't be remembering that! It was a great time, we did presents and a full turkey dinner. We couldn't have asked for a better time, even Dylan had a good time. He was so good, slept most of the time, then ate, then was awake for presents. Which was good, because he got all kinds of things. For a three week old, he did well! Got all kinds of great books from his Aunt Laura including but not limited to: Where the Wild Things Are, The Velveteen Rabbit, and , some clothes, and some toys!

Christmas Day we spent at our house, my mom and sister joined us for an afternoon of a ham dinner, and presents. It was nice getting two full Christmas dinners so we weren't limited to having to pick turkey or ham! Again, Adam and I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas day, which was probably cut short due to nap time, for both me and my mom. I just can't hardly make it through the day without a nap!

Lastly, yesterday, we headed back over to Adam's parents house for a small family reunion if you will. Grandma Lou's new husband Richard's family had come into town. Some were local, others came from Chicago, and Atlanta. So Adam's mom hosted everyone and it was a good time, with lots of food. Everyone was amazed at how good Dylan was, he basically slept the whole time, and well everyone wanted to wake him up, so a little before we left I woke him up so that his Grandma Suzan could show him off, that is of course, until he had a dirty diaper then he was passed off to Mom and Dad!

Needless to say, we're tired of eating, as well as just overly tired. I feel like I could sleep all day, but sadly, I have this little tiny human that will not let me do that like I used too!:) My next post will be about my new " toy" and no, I don't mean Dylan. Sidenote: If I hear one more person refer to him as a toy, I might scream!

Almost, but not quite

You don't really think about it when you are pregnant. But those annoying things during pregnancy are our bodies way of kinda preparing us for what is to come at the end of the nine months. Like I said, I didn't really think about this until well, I came home with a newborn, and those annoying pregnancy things were a walk in the park!

As most who read this blog know, I absolutely LOVED being pregnant. Granted, I had a very easy time, but I loved every minuet of it. In fact, I kinda miss it, and can't wait until the second time ( which will not be for a while, don't worry) But as I sit awake at 4 AM, I think about the things I mentioned above. So here is the list I came up with!

1) Getting up 900 times a night to pee----- Not bad considering, you get to stumble there, and stumble back and get back to sleep in a matter of moments. With a newborn, you have to get up every three hours. Yes I set an alarm, because my little man LOVES his sleep. But it's not a quick thing to do. You gotta wake baby up, feed him with could take forever depending on how you are feeding them, change them, then hope and pray they are going to back to sleep.

2) Bending over while pregnant. The only time I had a problem with this was when I had eaten to much and well, I couldn't breath. Well try bending over holding a baby who has no head control to speak of! It's VERY hard... I've gotten good at picking things up with my feet, that is if I'm sitting on the couch!
>

3) Naps: A past time of most pregnant ladies, I know it was of mine. I have always been a napper. I can take an hour nap and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. Well, with a newborn you gotta take naps. I mean a nap from 8-9 PM is GREAT. I feel sorry for anyone who can't take naps. My poor husband can't. Luckily, I don't really wake him up in the middle of the night. His boobs are no good to our son!;)

4) Annoying comments. Who doesn't get tired of the same comments over and over when pregnant. My favorite " How are you feeling?" I hated that question when I was pregnant. But I got it all the time. Well, when you have a baby, you will get all kind of information from lots of sources, that well you might not agree with or want to hear, but you gotta take it with a grain of salt! ( And no, I haven't gotten to much of that, that I've listened to at least!;) )

So that's all I can think of now, I didn't have an issue with pregnancy brain, but man do I have newborn brain. If I don't write it down, I forget it!

Life as we know it!

Adam and I couldn't be enjoying our newest addition anymore than we are. He is such a good baby, granted he is only a week and a half old, and things could change REALLY quickly, but he's been great. We are still getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night, because he gets up, I feed him, change him, then put him back down, by then he's usually already asleep. If he is awake, he just stares. He doesn't fuss when he is awake, he just stares at us and makes funny faces.
He has finally gotten going on the peeing on us thing. It took him a few days to get some distance, and he didn't really even pee during a diaper change until like Monday. Now every. single. diaper. change he will pee. We've gotten some on the bed, all over his pack-n-play, and well all over himself. Adam and I have managed to dodge that so far. Well, I'll be honest, I hardly EVER change diapers. I always hand him off to daddy, go do that!

We had his first pediatrician appointment Wednesday morning, it went great. He has gained an ounce since we came home, putting him at 6lbs 9 ounces. Such a big boy, but he is going to have his daddy's legs and arms, because they are so skinny. Today we put some 0-3 month pants on him, and well, we could have put another baby in them, they are HUGE on him!

We love being parents, we had a two bad nights, the first one, where Dylan wouldn't sleep unless someone was holding him, which was alright, because I have a reclining rocker, which is nice because we just held him and slept in the chair. It was a great investment. The second night was hell also, because he just screamed and screamed and screamed, and I had no idea why... It was rough. Being parents is hard. There is no question about that. I couldn't imagine doing it without Adam. It's very tiring, but Adam will watch him during the day so that I can take a nap, I haven't gone a day without taking a shower, and well Adam feeds me, so he is a huge help, and watching him with our son, just melts my heart every. single. day. I love ALL of my boys!

They don't lie

" eat, sleep, and poop" this is no lie! For someone who does nothing but those three things,he is a very demanding little guy! Adam and I are loving every moment with him:) we love that he is letting us sleep 8 hours and we can't beleive how much he has changed! Hopefully I'll be able to post some new pictures soon when I have a moment !!

How it happened!!!

Thanks to the My Little Lamb Swing, I can sit here and start to write how Dylan entered the world. Without the " Too much info" details of course!

So here it goes!!

It started on Tuesday night. I had been having a few mild contractions, nothing to write home about, seeing as I had been having them for weeks. Adam and I had gone on about our business of watching Tv, eating dinner ( Chinese) and heading to bed. At about midnight, I started having " period like cramps" I thought, I've never really gotten them, so I wasn't sure. My belly wasn't hardening like I thought that it would so I just kinda lived through it. Then I noticed that they were pretty frequent so I started timing them. 10 min. That's 5 too many to warrant a call to the Dr. Or so I had read. The contractions went on at 10 min apart forever. It's amazing how fast time goes by when you are looking at a clock ALL THE TIME! haha, then around 2:30 or 3, I decided that I was in quite a bit of pain, but STILL the contractions were only 10 min apart! By this point I had decided we needed to go to the hospital, knowing full well we would probably get sent home,so I decided that I would take a shower to relieve some of the pain. IT WORKED! So I told Adam we didn't need to go just yet, so he went back to sleep! They died down enough for me to get like a 20 min power nap! Then I woke up in pain again. About 4:15 Adam rolled over and asked how I was doing, but the answer wasn't a good one. I was still in pain, every 10 min I remind you, so I told him to get up! As I was finishing packing a few things, and getting dressed he went an made some breakfast and then we headed out!

We get to the hospital, and the whole time I am telling Adam we are going to be sent home because my contractions are not the 5 min apart most Dr. look for. They were still 10. So I get the L&D, and they ask if I'm a "Scheduled Section" and my answer was like " Nope, I'm a surprise and I HOPE I'm in labor" So they take me back to get me checked. So here is the moment of truth. The nurse says..." Were you planing on getting an epidural?" Me " UMMM YES!" Her..." OHHHH, if we make it that far, your already 8 cm, maybe 9" " Oh Good God " ( Or something very similar) She quickly calls the IV lady and the anesthesiologist. The IV lady comes in, and does her business * Side note* I have never had an IV before, or even been in a hospital for that matter, so when I was joking through the whole thing, then told her " I didn't feel a damn thing" she was very impressed!

Then the Epidural lady comes in. Even though they hadn't gotten my blood work back or given me a whole bag of fluid, she gave me the thing, because well I wouldn't have gotten it had she not. Let me tell you, that epidural is the strangest thing EVER. It felt really strange to have a needle grinding your spinal column, then to feel your legs go numb, but I would get it again in a heartbeat. It was amazing, and again, I kept joking about how heavy my legs were, the nurse thought it was funny! So then my Dr. gets there and I am at "9 almost 10 cm" But they wanted me to wait to push, so Dr. went and had some breakfast, and then we looked at the snow that had covered Frisco, and watched " bringing home baby" I thought it was a perfect show to watch while pushing!!!

At 8 AM, I'm ready to push. So well you know, I push. I had heard such horror stories about how hard it was and everything, but I'll tell you, you don't really think about it. I even asked if it was possible to blow my eyes out, because they make you push for 10 seconds without breathing. And my EYES were what I worried about. I didn't count how many times I pushed with the nurse but I think it was MAYBE 5 or 6, then the Dr. came in. I gave him what good push, then Dylan was out at 8:23 AM. It was the most amazing feeling, seeing Adam see his son enter the world. I would do it over and over again just to see his face.

So there you have it, a quick easy, labor and delivery story. The nurses were amazed that I came in at 8 cm, thinking I was going to get sent home, and they even placed a bet that I would deliver before some other lady who had been induced the day before would. Though I am not sure the outcome of that! Recovery has been great as well. 2 nights in the hospital, both of which we sent Dylan to the nursery. Nursing is going well, every 2-3 hours round the clock! Luckily I have a FANTASTIC husband, who lets me sleep during the day, and has " man time" with Dylan! I think that's everything. Any questions? I'll answer them if I can. I will tell you though, being a Mommy, though I have only done so for 4 days, makes for a hard job, but let me tell you, seeing those eyes look at me when I talk to him, there is nothing in the world like it. Also, watching someone you THOUGHT you loved as much as you could with their child. WOW, makes you fall in love all over again.

Should have known

Adam and I went to see New Moon on Monday, which interestingly enough they are called " Twilight Two" at the movie theater. I thought that it was so smart of me to go on a Monday in the middle of the day, hoping to escape all the little tween girls who would scream and " oooohhh" over Edward and Jacob. But NOOOOOOO, we were in a theater filled with them. Usually I would have just sucked it up, but of course, I have to sit to the left of probably one of the ONLY 13 year old girls in the theater WHO HAD NOT READ THE BOOK... Ok Ok, so yes, Adam has not read the books, but this little girl would ask her friend "why would he do that, why did he do this" every. single. time. And no, she was not whispering. The whole damn theater could probably hear her!!! lol.. either way, at the end of the movie, everyone was like " WHAT NOOOOOO...." when it ended. Well if you have seen the movie, or read the book, you know what happens, I'm not sure why everyone was in shock! oh well, that's what I get for going to a movie about vampires who love humans!:)

I did enjoy the movie, but I knew it wouldn't be as good as the book, seeing that I've never seen a movie that was a good as the book, but I did enjoy the first movie too, and I own it, and fully instead on owning the second, third, fourth and fifth!!!:)

Crunch Time

----------> Points to ticker...

18 DAYS? WHAT? It's been crunch time in the Fenner house the last few days. Finishing up shopping, cleaning, doing laundry, bathing stinky dogs, rearranging furniture for baby stuff, and well, doing the UNTHINKABLE, putting up a Christmas tree BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! And that was all just in the last 2 days!

Adam asked me the other day, " Do you feel like you job is almost over, or is it just about to begin?" It's hard to believe that in a little more than two weeks we will be meeting our baby boy. As we've gotten closer, I have fallen in love with Adam all over again. He's just so cute, he talks to my belly in a Darth Vador voice:) Dylan seems to like it because he wiggles around. I still wish that I KNEW what he was doing in there, if just feels so strange!! I can't wait to see Adam actually with an outside baby! It's going to melt my heart. I'm so lucky to have him, and well, if I almost cried watching him burb a baby doll in our baby care class, I'm in T-R-OUBLE!!

In other news, we're having a day of pampering tomorrow. We're getting massages in the morning, then we're going to go to a place with gourmet southern food for lunch, then we're seeing NEW MOON!!! I reread the book last week just to brush up on it, and well I have not heard anything bad about it yet, so I'm uber excited!!! We'll see if I switch teams to Jacob, I don't think I will but MAYBE... I actually looked up how old Taylor Laughtner was the other day... did you know he was born in 1992????? DAMN, We're getting old...:)

Just a side note: I always try to remember to spell check before I post, and I ALWAYS spell because wrong!!! lol... fast fingers always wrong!

You would think I'd be used to it by now.

I've never liked Dr's. I really have no reason to have never liked them. I'm a healthy person. I haven't ever even really gone to the Dr. until I got pregnant. I suffer from some serious white coat syndrome. But you would think, with all of the visits I've had since March, that I would be over it. Nope.

Today was my 36 week, yup only four more weeks, checkup. Once again my blood pressure was up. Not really that high, but higher than it usually is. Though, he isn't really worried about it, because I don't have any other signs of a problem. No swelling, no headaches, and overall, I feel fantastic. I've got some energy, and I'm gaining the right amount of weight. So, he'll keep an eye on it and we'll go from there. His advice, do as little as possible, rest, drink water, and put my feet up. I told him, ONLY if he insisted! haha.

Now that you have my medical information ( which I know you wanted) I'll say it again. ONLY FOUR MORE WEEKS.. at most, maybe less. Scary thought. Adam has been on me since Friday to pack our hospital bag, I just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe one of these day's. Other than that, he is still working, though he will be done next Thursday, which is good, because I've made plans for us to go and see New Moon, the Monday after it comes out. Which happens to be the same day as our massages:)

We finished all of our classes, we are now in the know about, Infant CPR and Safety, Baby Care and Breastfeeding ( which I know ALOT of now, a 3.5 hour class will do that to you) We have one last thing at the hospital on the 24th, which is just a car seat check, to make sure we have the base installed correctly. Apparently the area has a 99 % rate of having them in wrong. So it's probably a good idea that we do it, even though it looks REALLY easy. We'll see!

Until next time...

Where does time go?

Two years ago yesterday we brought Bailey home! She was just a tiny little thing. It was a long process to get her, I had been looking at puppies forever, and for some reason, that week I really got the bug. I probably sent Adam at least, 100 pictures of puppies up for adoption in the area, until FINALLY I sent him her. His response? " You finally sent me one I couldn't resist, go ahead and fill out the application!"

Delaware puppy rescue was the place we got her, so we were required to fill out an application, and do the whole process, I was terrified because they said they wouldn't adopt out to anyone under the age of 25, we were 22 at the time. But my compelling argument that we were not your " typical" 22 year olds must have worked. They wanted us to come out and see if we were a good fit for " Ayme" That was her name then. That night we drove to Delaware ( not far from Philly) to take a look. I held her, then passed her off to Adam, who well she licked ( the sign of things to come) love at first sight if you will. So we wrote the check, then off we went to Petsmart for some baby essentials. She made it all the way to the parking lot in Philly before peeing on me! haha, that should have been my sign. Then it was off to meet her brother and sister, Louie and siren.

Louie " Loved" her...
Siren loved her bed, not really a big fan of Bailey herself!

Bailey and I have a different relationship then Adam and her do. Most of ours involves sleeping.:)( please excuse me in these pictures)

Adam's relationship with Bailey is well... a little disturbing. She licks him. ALL. THE. TIME. We once tried to time her to see if she would stop on her own, she didn't. She swabbed his face for 5 minuets before we made her stop. ( Sorry for sharing that honey) But he loves her, and I watch him with her, and I can't EVEN imagine how fantastic he is going to be with our son. I don't have all the pictures on this computer that I wanted to put up of him with her, but here are a few, goodies! ( Again, ignore Adam in these, it was his morning wake up call)

Notice where the rest of her body is in these pictures.

Where did my once tiny little baby go? The sweet thing we brought home?

She turned into... well a dog, who barks, is afraid of everything, doesn't eat very much, really skinny, has weird ears, sleeps under the covers and is afraid of the grass!!! I tell her everyday she is lucky Adam and I adopted her, because if we didn't, she might have been taken back!

Scary!

As of yesterday, I can officially say, " I'm having a baby next month!" And if that wasn't scary enough, Adam responded with, " Well it could be THIS month RIGHT?" OH GEEZ!!!

It's the tiny things...

I think as a female, I can say, that I have always loved things in " tiny" versions. I always wanted the smallest cell phone, and I just had to have the Ipod Nano when it came out. Puppies and kitties, and well anything in a small version of the big ones that I know. So, there was no surprise when I found it hard to resist buying little bitty baby clothes. I'll be the first to admit, when I found out that Dylan well, was in fact Dylan, I was a little bummed that I wouldn't be able to find very many cute clothes. Well, boy was I wrong. Granted there isn't quite as much variety as girl clothes but there are still some adorable ones. I give you : A Navy Blue Bulldog, Zip up hoodie!!! It's so tiny. And Dylan will be so " Gangsta" in it. ( Though I am not striving to make my child ghetto!)

I only shop sales too. You will not find me buying ANYTHING clothes wise to put on him. Babies grow way to fast, and though I am afraid of the naked baby, I won't, I repeat won't pay full price!

So here are a few of my other finds. Equally as adorable. And yes, many things he has, have animals on them. I seem to buy those, but refuse to buy anything with a sports ball on them, strange!
It has a tiny squirrel on it. He also has a few other onsies, that are " green" one has a little footprint on it and it says " My carbon footprint" Gap, gotta love it!

This is one of his only " outfits" picture him with an orange onsie ( if they make those) under it. To Die for!!!

One last thing that I just can't spend money on ( which is probably a good thing) is baby shoes. I want to buy like every pair that I find, and well have managed to only buy 1 pair. They are for the summer-ish months, because they are a little bigger, but OMG, I want some for myself. Even the soles are adorable, probably because he won't be doing much walking in them!

So, there you have it, a look into my son's closet! lol... I LOVE buying baby things!!!

One of these days I'll post about the fair, but I have to buy a new card reader for my little camera, maybe this weekend!

Domestic once again...

Lets just say, I am one lucky woman. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I married well. Adam, loves to cook. Which is good, because, it's not that I don't like to cook, I prefer baking. Which will one day catch up to me I'm sure, and it won't be pretty. I am more of a follow a recipe kinda gal, whereas Adam, likes to throw things in a pot and see how it turns out! I just can't do that. But seeing that he has been busy the last week or so until dinner time, I've been left to my own devices if I want to eat!

One bad thing about following recipes is that you get WAY TOO MUCH food for just two people. I'll be so happy when we have kids that can actually put a dent in the stuff I make! Luckily though, the things I made last week were GREAT reheated! Lets see, I have made, Chicken Enchiladas, which were amazing (I could literally eat Mexican Food everyday!) I made, Baked Ziti, which, in the words of Rachael Ray, " Could feed an army" I think we ate that for about 3 meals, plus I had it for lunch one day. With that I made homemade french bread that was pretty good! Um... man, it's been over a week now, I can't remember what else I made. I made pot roast in the crock pot, though there wasn't much of that left.

Then on Sunday, we both woke up wanting to do something in the kitchen, so from scratch chocolate cake muffins were on the menu, and since then we've both eaten WAY TOO MANY!!!

"Your going to put what in here?"

Dirty diapers, yes that's right. Picking a diaper bag was a much harder decision that I had thought that it would be. Mainly, because I didn't want one that " looked" like a diaper bag. I think I succeeded. Many of you might remember a while back when I was trying to pick one, well I did. But just this last week, I found out that another one of the brands that I LOVE was having their semi annual sale, so I set my alarm to wake up to get first dibs on the good ones! Petunia Picklebottom bags, that's right, crazy name huh? I ended up getting two. A Touring Tote, and a Cross Town clutch ( which I thought was going to be much smaller that it actually is! ) But I love them both, so they were good purchases. All three of them are very different bags. Here are some photo's of them to show you!!!

First up: The Stork Sak, which I assume is the only one that Adam will be caught dead with!:)

This is how it attaches to the stroller. Which is nice, so it doesn't take up storage space underneath! It came with a changing pad, and it has two built in thermal bottle holders, to keep them warm or cold!

Touring Tote:
This one also hooks onto the stroller, but it also has two more straps, a short strap for carrying right underneath my arm, then a longer shoulder strap, so many options. Also has insulated bottle holders. Also came with a black wipes case!:)

See, pretty, but not really Adam's style. It also matches the stroller better!

Cross Town Clutch: Mind you, when I bought this I thought it would be much smaller. Oh well, I still love it!

This is a glazed back, which means that anything that spills on it can be wiped off, just like that!

It came with a Black wipes case, as well as a built in changing pad that pulls out!

Here is the embroidered detail, for some reason it is uploading sideways, even though it isn't sideways in the picture. I'm baffled!

So there you have it. ALL 3 of my diaper bags. Although I haven't used them yet, I highly recommend any of the brands. They are all very well made, and pleasant to look at:) Stay tuned for some adorable baby clothes!

Wait What?

7 WEEKS? Where is time going. That's right, at the very most our sweet little baby boy will be here in 7 weeks! CRAZY! So a lot has gone on since I posted last. Maybe what I should do it bullets, then do small posts to explain? It might help with my rambling! So here it goes!!!

I have an addiction...

First off, let me start by saying, that I should seriously consider buying stock in Carter's. I can't think of a time that I have gone in there an not bought Dylan SOMETHING to wear! I think about 95 % of his clothes are Carters!

Second, Diaper bags~ I've never been one to buy a bunch of purses or anything, I'm more of a shoe girl, but I am now addicted to diaper bags. I'm not exactly sure WHY, but I am, I bought two, that's right, two more this morning! So now I have three, and I'm REALLY excited about them.

Finally ~ just shopping in general. Adam and I went shopping for tiny little clothes yesterday, because I have this irrational fear that my child will be going naked for the first 3 months of his life due to lack of appropriate clothing. We were in Gap Baby, looking at long sleeve onesies, and There were three. Sadly that's ALL of them that Gap baby had that weren't pink but that's another post, another day. Well I couldn't decide on one so I said to Adam " Which one do you like better?" His response? " I like them all, lets get them all!" Now how luck am I? I would say pretty lucky. Either that, or Adam doesn't want a naked child either!:)

I'm waiting for Nesting to start, and the urge to buy tiny things to stop... wanna place a bet as to when it will happen?

A True Texan

After living in Texas for almost 5 months, Adam and I finally made ourselves legal today! Got our cars registers, and got new Texas Drivers Licenses. We have had the things to do it ready for probably 2 months now, but lacked the much needed motivation for get ourselves to McKinney to do the cars, then well of course, who wants to sit at the DMV for hours to have a really bad picture of them self taken? Not I! But we lucked out. After driving out into the middle of nowhere McKinney, we found the tax collectors office, and did our cars, which took a mere 20 min tops! Then we were directed to the McKinney DMV. Which was pure heaven. I'm not kidding you when I say we drove up, and there were only THREE, yes you read that right, THREE cars in the parking lot!!! So we were in and out in about 30 min... ( we filled out paperwork we didn't need to;( ) So overall it was successful! Though they didn't give us our PA licenses back, so I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be using for a photo ID for the next 6-8 weeks, so lets hope I don't get carded!:/

We stopped at HomeGoods/ TJMAXX on the way home, because I like to look at all things baby there, and I bought Dylan some Christmas socks. There is just something about baby socks that I can't resist. Though I DO NEED more! I only have a few pairs and they are all fancy. Do they make the big bags of white baby socks? I should look into it! Anyway, here is a picture of them, how cute right? And for 5 Bucks. I love Homegoods/TJMAXX!!

Sneak Peak

We've been busy parents to be. Getting a nursery ready is probably the hardest part of being pregnant. We pregnant people have GRAND ideas of what we want it to be, I know I do!!! After I found out we were having a boy, I KNEW I didn't want to do sports, boats, woodland creatures, or anything else that is generally assiciated with " Boys" I wanted something bright, and fun, and pretty gender nuetral... then the hunt for bedding commenced, I finally found it, ordered it, only to find out that it had been discontinued! Sad day, but then I ordered something very similar, same colors and everything. I finally got the bedding last Monday, after probably about 6 weeks!
Well then I thought about paint. I knew I wanted to stripe a wall( based on the bedding), and then paint the other three a solid color. Man, let me tell you, painting stripes is a pain! Here is a sneak peak at the stripes!
(You can see some of our sample swatches there!)
But honestly, I'm not sure which Adam and I disliked more, painting three walls a solid blue, or the stripes!
This is the baby blue that is on the other three walls!

So now we wait for the furniture. Which is being delivered on THURSDAY!!!! YEY!!! Adam and I went to order our crib, dresser, and glider back at the beginning of July, so it's been a long time coming now! We're soo excited!!! I'll post some pictures, once it all comes together on Friday!

Close to home

This past Friday night we got hit HARD with storms here in Murphy TX.  You forget about how bad TX storms are when you live in PA for two years.  Yes, it storms there, but, the lightning and thunder, they just don't compare.  So as this storm was rolling through, Adam and I,well, we watched the lightening through the windows.  We were upstairs in the game room, when this crack of thunder and lightning hit about the same time.  You know what they always told you, you can judge how close lightening is by how soon you hear the thunder.  Well what about when it's at the same time?  Is it in your backyard?  Anywho, Adam was like " Holy Crap, that looked like it hit the pool, which is like half a block from our front door, I'll have you know.
So of course on this night of all nights, we had dinner plans, so as we were leaving, sure enough, fire trucks, ambulances, and police were swarming the pool area, but we saw nothing.  So we proceeded to float/ drive to the OTHER side of Plano for dinner.  Upon our return, a mere 3 hours later, the rain had stopped, but the damage had already been done.
You see, as we pull up to our street, we see that the other side has been shut down by fire trucks, so being the rubbernecker that I am, ( Don't tell me you don't do it too, everyone does) I make Adam make the block so we can see what has happened.  Remember that lightening that " Hit the pool"?  Well it actually hit a house.  A house on OUR STREET.  Yes it was on the other side of the neighborhood, but probably only 20 houses down from us.  And it was gone.  The roof, all the windows, and it had taken a LONG time to put out that fire, and many of Murphy, and Wylies, fire fighters.  I truly felt so sad for the family that had just lost everything, even though I have no idea who they are.  But who would have though something like that would hit so close to home?

On a funny note, Adam and I immediately came home and checked our homeowners policy, to make sure that if anything were to happy to our house, it would be alright.  I have also been on the hunt for one of those stickers to say that there are animals in the house, and how many of what kind.  Because, firefighters would NEVER be able to find Bailey.  She is in our closet ( Huge walkin don't worry) in her crate, that is covered in a blanket.

Top of the Third... ALREADY???

I can't believe it. I've entered the third and LAST trimester of this pregnancy. That means in a THREE months, we'll have us a brand new baby boy, how exciting:) Man, there is so much that we still need to do, like, ANYTHING in his nursery. I'm, sadly, still waiting on his bedding so we can go and get paint colors picked out. At this rate, we're going to have his furniture before his bedding, which is fine, but I wanted to paint before we got that!!! oh well! I have actually checked off one thing on our list, which is to sign up for classes at the hospital. We are signed up for 3, a Baby care class, which is basically a new parent class, a Infant Safety and CPR class, and a breastfeeding class. I don't know if every hospital is like this, but all of the classes are free of charge which is nice, because there are so many good ones!!! So now all we have to do is go on our tour, which they hold on Mondays with drinks and appetizers... Isn't that cool? Again, maybe every hospital does this but not that I know of! I will leave the baby section with a picture of me from this weekend. Adam was sitting on the couch, that's why I look like I'm looking down!
In other non baby news, WE HAVE A COFFEE TABLE AND END TABLES!!! We picked them up this afternoon, and they look great! Also, I took a hint from Lauren's blog and picked myself up some fall candles. She had made a post about the Leaves Candle, and Adam and I were at the mall and I walked past Bath and Body works, and there it was! Calling my name. EVEN better was that they were on sale. Buy on get one FREE!!! So I got Leaves and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. THEY ARE AMAZING!!! All this talk of fall got me thinking about Christmas, and how I should start thinking about how I'm going to decorate. Since I know Christmas will be at our house this year, because of Dylan, can't have company without Christmas Decorations!!!

OH AND NOW IT'S RAINING!!! YES!

Picture post

Well I was looking through some of the latest posts, and realized that I hadn't had any pictures in there in a while! So this is going to be a random picture post. Starting off with something probably everyone forgot about... my craft project! I finally finished it today, it got taken upstairs and kinda forgotten about... so here it is. I made closet dividers for Dylan's nursery. You can buy them, yes, but I thought these were much cuter, and cost about $1 a piece!!

These are for keeping all those cute little tiny clothes organized, so you know what you have in what size. I made a newborn one, 0-3 months ( yes this is different from newborn) 3-6,6-9,9-12,12-18... So I have a long time until I will need to change them! They look really cute in the closet too!
So there you have it folks... my craft project!!!

My next set is pictures of the house... We finally bought a dining room table a few weeks ago, and almost as soon as it was set up the cat was on it. They think everything new we by we bought for them. Luckily, since we have put a runner and place mats on it, so hasn't been up there. She prefers the chairs!!

This is probably one of the best pictures I've ever gotten of her...no devil eyes! So here is a picture of the table and the formal living room, we think they look pretty good together! Just need some curtains!

Last pictures for today are just some random ones that I have taken over the last few weeks!!!

Louie likes to play " Where's Louie" he'll lay down on the brown sofas, or the brown sheets on the bed, and sometimes it's really hard to find him. Here he is on the couch, and HE managed to put the pillow on top of him, we didn't do it, I promise!

This is a sunset picture the other night, I thought that it was pretty. It was like a fire color... no color correcting here!

So there you have it... some pictures. It looks like we are going to have a pretty good turn out for our BBQ this weekend, so hopefully, I'll remember to use the camera!!!
